Wow, 2022. Let’s hope that it is a happy and healthy year for everyone. We are coming up on 4 years of our book club and I am so thankful to have met all of you and to share our thoughts once a month. I hope our reading slumps improve, but I enjoy your company and ideas even more than the books you share. It is a goal of mine to make significant progress on my (multiple) TBR piles and shelves in the coming months … oh, Animal Crossing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shana read a woman’s murder club book for the first, or second time. 12th of Never, James Patterson<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hugh read a murder mystery\/thriller that sounded great. I blame unmanageable TBR piles that it wasn’t borrowed. Apparently, it is “in development” to be made into a movie. The Life We Bury, Allen Eskins<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I read and did not love The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller, and enjoyed Mitch Albom’s The Stranger in the Lifeboat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ashley was on theme this month with two coming-of-age stories of lesbian women of color adjusting to their society and culture. The Last Night at the Telegraph Club, Malinda Lo and The Girl and The Goddess, Nikita Gill<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Christiana read The Winter Garden by Heidi Swain. Also Matt’s recent pick, Piranesi by Susanna Clark, that I’m borrowing this month. I’m also interested in reading Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Book Store by Robin Sloan after Matt borrows it this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matt read Hugh’s latest pick, Click Here to Kill Everybody, Bruce Schneier. He attempted Blindness, Jose Saramago, but had to put that darkness on pause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mariya finished A Discovery of Witches and is ready for the rest of the series. Also Things you Save in a Fire, Katherine Center and The Bookshop on the Corner, Jenny Colgan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ross and Ali, you were missed. I hope you both stay healthy. It was freezing awful cold and I’m already looking forward to warmer evenings to be enjoyed in the courtyard. I’m thinking good thoughts for the new year. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
